Jensen's Foods Honored as Small Business of the Year
Senator Mike Morrell (R-Rancho Cucamonga) presents company vice president Matt Zack with an award recognizing Jensen’s Foods as the 23rd Senate District Small Business of the Year.

SACRAMENTO – During the annual California Small Business Day at the State Capitol, Senator Mike Morrell (R-Rancho Cucamonga) recognized Jensen’s Foods as the 23rd Senate District Small Business of the Year. Company vice president Matt Zack accepted the award.

“Jensen’s Foods has long been an invaluable part of our community,” said Morrell. “Their commitment to quality service, along with strong support for local events and charitable causes, makes them a model business in our region. I am proud to recognize Jensen’s for their contributions to our economy. It is my privilege to honor them as Small Business of the Year for the 23rd Senate District.”

The Jensen's Foods original market was opened in Blue Jay, near Lake Arrowhead, in 1940 by Einer and Marie Jensen. In 1981, Gene Fulton purchased the store, after having worked his way up from the position of clean up boy. Under his leadership, the company has expanded to include eight store locations in Blue Jay, Cedar Glen, Running Springs, Wrightwood, Palm Desert, Palm Springs, and Rancho Mirage. The family-owned and operated business is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year.

Jensen's is an active presence in the communities it serves, supporting many local charities, non-profits, and causes including music and art programs, youth sports, and military families. It also regularly donates food to Operation Provider, which makes aid and resources available to the homeless. Additionally, when there are wildfires, Jensen’s has opened its doors to the firefighters battling the flames.

“It was an honor to be selected as Small Business of the Year by Senator Morrell,” said Matt Zack, vice president of Jensen’s Foods. “On behalf of the Jensen’s family, we would like to thank the community and our loyal customers for shopping with us for the last 75 years.”

California Small Business Day acknowledged 80 small businesses for their contribution to the state’s economy.
